Leadership and Advisory Board
The Institute of Applied Psychophysiology is led and guided by a team of individuals who bring clinical expertise, professional authority, lived experience, and institutional credibility to the world's first Applied Psychophysiology research and accreditation body.
Charles Linden
Creator of Threat Recalibration Therapy™
Charles Linden is the founder of the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology and the creator of Threat Recalibration Therapy™ — the world's only biology-based methodology for the permanent resolution of anxiety disorders. In thirty years of clinical practice he has produced over 650,000 documented permanent recoveries across 42 countries.
Linden suffered from severe anxiety disorder for twenty-two years — experiencing GAD, panic disorder, OCD, agoraphobia, depersonalisation, derealisation, and an eating disorder simultaneously. Having been failed by every available treatment he discovered the biological mechanism of permanent fear response recalibration in 1996 and recovered permanently. He has spent thirty years refining and delivering the methodology that produced his own recovery.
He is the author of seven books, the founder of the KOTA children's anxiety programme, the creator of the ANXAPP diagnostic algorithm, and the architect of the Institute's five-paper peer-reviewed working paper series. He has appeared on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky News, The Guardian, The Times, Vogue, and the Los Angeles Times.
Charles Linden holds the position of Founder and Senior Fellow of the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology and is the primary author of all Institute research publications.

Beth Linden
Beth Linden
Beth Linden is Co-Founder and Executive Director of the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology. She has worked alongside Charles Linden throughout the development of The Linden Method and Threat Recalibration Therapy™, contributing to the operational leadership, strategic direction, and institutional development of the organisation across its thirty years of operation.
Her role at the Institute encompasses executive oversight of the Institute's programmes, partnerships, and organisational governance, and she brings decades of direct experience in the delivery of Applied Psychophysiology services to individuals, families, and organisations globally.
The Institute of Applied Psychophysiology Research Advisory Board provides independent oversight of the Institute's research programme. Board members review working papers prior to publication, contribute to the Institute's ongoing research agenda, and bring independent clinical, medical, and professional expertise to the governance of the world's first Applied Psychophysiology research body.

Rachel Wood MSc, RGN
Clinical and Nursing Expertise
Rachel Wood holds a Master of Science degree and is a Registered General Nurse with extensive clinical experience across healthcare settings. She brings frontline clinical nursing knowledge and postgraduate academic expertise to the Institute's research oversight — contributing independent clinical assessment of the Institute's published research, outcomes methodology, and practitioner accreditation standards.
Her nursing background provides the Institute with direct clinical perspective on the application of Applied Psychophysiology principles within NHS and healthcare settings, and her postgraduate qualification ensures the Institute's research is evaluated against recognised academic standards.

Ben Tams
Professional and Institutional Expertise
Ben Tams brings professional expertise and institutional perspective to the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology's advisory function. He contributes independent evaluation of the Institute's research programme, practitioner accreditation standards, and institutional development — providing the kind of external professional scrutiny that ensures the Institute operates to the highest standards of governance and professional integrity.

Dr Priya Sukhtankar
Medical Expertise
Dr Priya Sukhtankar contributes independent medical expertise to the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology's research advisory function. Her medical background provides clinical perspective on the Institute's published research, the biological framework of Threat Recalibration Therapy™, and the Institute's outcomes evaluation methodology — ensuring that the Institute's work is assessed against the standards of evidence-based medical practice.
Dr Sukhtankar's involvement reflects the Institute's commitment to independent medical oversight of its research programme and its positioning of Applied Psychophysiology as a clinically rigorous and medically credible discipline.

Samuel Thomas
Practitioner and Creative Industry Expertise
Samuel Thomas is a professional actor and LAR-Certified Anxiety Recovery Practitioner who brings both lived experience of anxiety disorder recovery and professional creative industry expertise to the Institute's advisory board.
Thomas suffered from severe anxiety disorder for approximately five years — experiencing Pure-O, intrusive thoughts, ROCD, OCD, agoraphobia, monophobia, depersonalisation, derealisation, and chronic insomnia simultaneously. Having been told by a CBT therapist that he would never recover from anxiety and would spend the rest of his life in therapy and on medication, he discovered The Linden Method. Within two weeks he was completely anxiety free.
He trained as an LAR-Certified Anxiety Recovery Practitioner and now works to help others in the creative industries — where anxiety is, as he describes it, absolutely rife — recover permanently through Applied Psychophysiology and Threat Recalibration Therapy™.
Samuel Thomas brings to the Institute's advisory board a unique combination of recovery experience, practitioner training, and deep knowledge of the creative industries — a sector in which anxiety disorder is endemic, misunderstood, and almost universally undertreated.
"Recovery is not only possible — it is inevitable with this method."
