The following quotes from Charles Linden are approved for use without prior interview. Please credit as indicated.
"Applied Psychophysiology is not an improvement on existing anxiety therapies. It is a replacement for them. Every existing therapy addresses the outputs of anxiety. Applied Psychophysiology addresses the mechanism. That distinction is the difference between a career in management and a career in recovery."
— Charles Linden, Founder, The Institute of Applied Psychophysiology
"Three hundred million people globally are being treated for anxiety disorders right now. The treatments they are receiving will not permanently resolve their condition. Not because the practitioners aren't trying. Because the treatments are directed at the wrong biological target."
— Charles Linden
"I spent twenty-two years with severe anxiety disorder. I was housebound, agoraphobic, and told by credentialed professionals that the best I could hope for was to manage my condition for life. They were wrong. I recovered permanently in 1996. In the thirty years since I have helped 650,000 others do the same."
— Charles Linden
"The serotonin hypothesis — the proposition that anxiety and depression are caused by insufficient serotonin correctable by SSRIs — was conclusively disproved by a comprehensive Lancet review in 2022. Hundreds of millions of people are still being prescribed SSRIs on the basis of a theory the evidence does not support."
— Charles Linden
"One in four children globally has a diagnosable anxiety condition. The interventions they are receiving are directed at the wrong biological target. My Name Is Charlie and the KOTA programme exist because children deserve the biological truth about what is happening in their nervous systems — and the intervention that actually works."
— Charles Linden
Charles Linden — Short Biography
Three paragraphs. Ready to publish. For extended biography, contact press@charleslinden.institute.
Charles Linden is the founder of the Institute of Applied Psychophysiology and creator of Threat Recalibration Therapy™ — the world's only biology-based methodology for the permanent resolution of anxiety disorders. In thirty years of clinical practice he has produced over 650,000 documented permanent recoveries across 42 countries.
Linden suffered from severe anxiety disorder for twenty-two years — experiencing GAD, panic disorder, OCD, agoraphobia, depersonalisation, and an eating disorder simultaneously. Having been failed by every available treatment he discovered the biological mechanism of permanent fear response recalibration in 1996 and permanently recovered. He has spent three decades refining and delivering the methodology that produced his own recovery.
He is the author of seven books including The Human in the Room and The Airport in My Head, the founder of the KOTA children's anxiety programme, and the creator of the ANXAPP diagnostic algorithm. He has appeared on BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Sky News, and in The Guardian, The Times, Vogue, and the Los Angeles Times. He is based in Spain.
